  • Due dates are firm…no late applications will be considered.
  • Applications are available online or the Career Centre.
  • Read the criteria and instructions carefully as some applications must be mailed directly, while others must be handed in to the Career Centre. (check for postmarked due date!)
  • Be sure to gather all required documentation prior to sending off or handing in.

PLEASE NOTE THAT IN ADDITION TO THESE ENTRANCE SCHOLARHIPS, EACH POST SECONDARY INSTITUTION ALSO PROVIDES BURSARIES (BASED ON FINANCIAL NEED)…GOOD IDEA TO CHECK OUT WHAT IS AVAILABLE!!!

            Burnaby School District Scholarships:

  • The following scholarships are awarded by the School District Scholarship Committee.  Nominees for these scholarships are selected by the school-based Scholarship Committee.  Pick up information sheet and application package from the Career Centre ASAP.  All application forms are due and must be returned to Mr Morton no later than  March 22 by 3:04 pm.  

 

            2010 Burnaby Arts Council Scholarship:

  • demonstrate excellence in the arts (performing, visual or literary
  • good academic record with letters of commendation
  • to attend a post secondary institution in the arts field leading to a
  • professional status in theatre, dance, visual arts, creative writing or music

 

         Burnaby South War Memorial Honour Roll Bursary:

  • must be a Canadian citizen
  • demonstrates values associated with caring, sharing, responsibility and a willingness to help others
  • selection based upon service, leadership and financial need

         Vancouver Port Corporation:

  • good standard of achievement and demonstration of good citizenship in the school and community

           

         Metropolis at Metrotown and Metrotwon Centre Scholarship:

  • been enrolled in a Burnaby school for the 2 senior years
  • well rounded student, good citizenship and strong leadership skills
  • currently employed in a part-time job

 

         Majorie Jane Stephenson Education Schoalrship:

  • must be seeking a career in Health Care
  • good academic standing, good citizenship and leadership skills
  • volunteering experience in assisting older adults in the community

 

         Royal Arch Masonic Home Education Scholarship:

  • must be seeking a career in Health Care
  • been enrolled in a Buranby school for the 2 senior years
  • demonstrated community service assisting older adults
  • good academic standing, good citizenship and strong leadership skills

 

        Ethel Lau Scholarship:

  • financial need is a consideration
  • good academic standing, good citizenship
  • participation in volunteer activities

 

        IKON Office Solutions Scholarship:

  • registered to attend a program at BCIT
  • demonstrated good citizenship and good academic standing
  • actively involved in school service

 

         Dawn Harris Memorial Scholarship:

  • to be awarded to a female student from Alpha or Burnaby North
  • been enrolled in a Burnaby school for the 2 senior years
  • good academic standing
  • involved in the school’s athletic program
  • demonstrated outstanding citizenship and strong leadership skills
  • to continue education in a post secondary program

 

         Louella Downing Visual Arts Scholarship:

  • demonstrated excellence in a minimum of two senior Visual Arts courses
  • interest in pursuing a career in Visual Arts and proof of registration in a post secondary institution in art, film or design program
  • must submit 8-10 photographs of original art work

 

 

         — OTHER SCHOLARSHIP HIGHLIGHTS –

         Garfield Weston Merit Scholarships for Colleges:

  • must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident
  • be entering a college in Sep 07 and taking studies leading to a certificate, diploma or applied degree (university transfer program are not eligible)
  • a minimum average 75% in courses required for college program of choice

  • awarded to students who have worked diligently to achieve a good balance between school and activities
